Detroit: Become Human 2? Bryan Dechart’s Reaction Sparks Speculation | State of Play Update

Sony has announced a new PlayStation State of Play event scheduled for February 12th. The announcement quickly drew a reaction from Bryan Dechart, the actor and motion-capture performer for Connor in Detroit: Become Human, who responded to the news on X with a simple eye emoji and an exclamation point.

Dechart Remains Actively Involved in Creative Projects

Dechart’s career extends beyond his role in Detroit: Become Human. He has also appeared in Red Dead Redemption and provided voice function for characters in Cyberpunk 2077. Currently, Dechart is collaborating with his wife, Amelia Rose Blaire, on The Grand Prismatic, a narrative adventure game featuring branching storylines, through their studio Dechart Games. Both are also active streamers, building a community online.

Given his diverse projects, Dechart’s brief social media response shouldn’t be automatically interpreted as a hint towards a new Detroit project. It simply indicates he is following the State of Play announcements – nothing more, and nothing less.

Could a ‘Detroit: Become Human’ Sequel Be on the Horizon?

Quantic Dream, the studio behind Detroit: Become Human, has indicated openness to sequels, but only when narratively justified. CEO David Cage has emphasized that the studio will only pursue sequels if compelling stories can be told around the existing characters, rather than solely for commercial gain. Detroit: Become Human currently has a completed storyline, and Cage has stated that the chances of a sequel depend on finding new narratives. The studio is currently focused on developing Star Wars Eclipse.

PlayStation also has several projects in development, including Marvel’s Wolverine, Marathon from Bungie, and Saros, all of which are expected to be featured at the upcoming State of Play. A sequel to Detroit is considered relatively unlikely at this time, and Dechart’s reaction doesn’t offer concrete evidence to the contrary. The increasing sophistication of narrative-driven games continues to push the boundaries of interactive storytelling.

Dechart’s reaction demonstrates attention to the event, but doesn’t represent a specific announcement. Players should await the official news revealed during the State of Play on February 12th, rather than speculating on a sequel. Quantic Dream remains committed to prioritizing quality and compelling storytelling over rushing into follow-up projects.
