A recent report indicates that the Novako Jáchymov ski resort, approximately 87 miles from Prague, experienced surprisingly light crowds this past Saturday, January 31, 2026. Despite expectations of congestion, visitors found well-maintained slopes and ample snow conditions.
The journey to the resort took around 90 minutes, and upon arrival, guests were greeted with excellent slope grooming, sufficient snowfall, and reasonable pricing. The experience also included unexpectedly substantial meals.
Parking was readily available directly at the resort, though the lot was full, spaces were found along the access road without obstructing traffic.
The familiar challenges of ski gear – uncomfortable boots, maintaining balance, and managing equipment – were present, but many parents happily carried skis for their children. This seemingly little detail highlights the enduring appeal of winter sports for families.
A family pass for two adults and two children costs 1,600 Czech Koruna, whereas a pass for a parent and one child is priced at 1,250 Czech Koruna. Individual rates vary depending on the duration of skiing, with one hour costing 280 Koruna for adults, 250 Koruna for seniors, and 190 Koruna for children.
Pricing information is clearly displayed both on the official website and on boards throughout the resort. Despite the Saturday crowds, wait times were minimal, and snow quality remained high.

Exceptional Dining
Temperatures remained above freezing. The resort also features a well-stocked rental shop.
Visitors also praised the restaurant in nearby Ostrov. The weekend menu was particularly appealing.
Roasted venison loin with white cabbage and English bacon, served with a variety of dumplings, was priced at 235 Koruna. A plum sauce and bacon dumpling variation was also available for the same price. The portion sizes were generous, and diners found the taste and presentation excellent, with attentive and friendly service.
In addition to these dishes, guests could order venison cutlet (180 Koruna), chicken roulade stuffed with spinach and potatoes (175 Koruna), pork roast in Hamburg sauce with bread dumplings (175 Koruna), smoked pork tenderloin (185 Koruna), or pork schnitzel with potato salad (180 Koruna). Many of these dishes were visible throughout the busy restaurant, with diners often nodding in approval at the substantial portions.
After enjoying a full meal, visitors returned to the slopes and reviewed prices at the resort’s snack bar, which are detailed in the table above.
Saturday afternoon passed quickly, and shortly after dark, visitors returned to Prague. No one experienced hunger pangs for at least six hours after the meal. Plans are already underway for a return visit next year.
