High-Profile Exodus at Sweden’s Public Broadcaster SVT
A series of departures by prominent journalists is unfolding at Sveriges Television (SVT), as several veteran figures announce their exits from the Swedish public broadcaster.

Kristofer Lundström, a longtime contributor to the network’s culture news department, is scheduled to leave the organization by the end of 2026. His departure, reported on May 12, 2026, marks the latest in a string of high-profile exits from the channel.
The move follows announcements made on May 11, 2026, by other established personalities, including Karin Magnusson and Bengt Norborg. The loss of multiple seasoned professionals in a short window suggests a significant transition period for the broadcaster’s editorial lineup.
Among those leaving is Bengt Norborg, who has recently served as the network’s correspondent in Ukraine. In a statement shared via Facebook on May 11, 2026, Norborg announced his intention to retire this autumn after more than four decades with the public service entity.
“I am writing this from Kyiv right now, because It’s time to think about the chorus, as they say. Over 40 years of service in public service is coming to an end. Yes, I intend to quit this autumn,” Norborg stated.
The departure of experienced correspondents and culture specialists represents a substantial loss of institutional memory. Such shifts within a national public broadcaster often reflect broader internal transitions or a changing guard in the country’s media landscape.
