Las Vegas police have arrested a woman accused of abandoning her dog at Harry Reid International Airport on February 2, 2026, after being denied a boarding pass due to incomplete travel documentation for the animal. The incident highlights the increasing complexities of traveling with pets and the potential consequences for those who attempt to circumvent regulations.
According to a Facebook post by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, officers responded to reports of a two-year-old goldendoodle tied to a metal carry-on baggage sizer at the JetBlue counter. Airport staff and travelers alerted authorities after witnessing the woman leave the dog unattended.
The woman, identified in court records as Germiran Bryson, 26, allegedly told police she was going to rebook her flight. She also claimed the dog was equipped with a tracking device, implying it was acceptable to leave the animal behind with the expectation of its return. Police stated she “became hostile and resisted officers’ attempts to detain her” and was subsequently arrested.
Bryson now faces misdemeanor charges including animal abandonment, resisting a public officer, providing false statements to obstruct a public officer, and animal abuse. Her next court date is scheduled for March 31, 2026. Court records do not currently list legal representation for Bryson.
The abandoned dog, now nicknamed “JetBlue” by rescuers, was initially cared for by airport employees and police officers before being taken in by Clark County Animal Protection Services. After a ten-day holding period at The Animal Foundation shelter, the goldendoodle was released to Retriever Rescue of Las Vegas.
“We can not believe we have to say this… but please do not abandon your dog at the airport,” the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department wrote in their Facebook post. The case has drawn significant attention to the challenges pet owners face when traveling and the importance of adhering to airline regulations.
