Police are investigating the theft of a dog from outside a Coop Mega store in
Oslo, Norway, on Saturday afternoon. The incident has prompted a search for
both the animal and a potential suspect.

The missing dog is a 15-year-old mixed breed, a cross between a Border Collie
and a Flatcoat Retriever, and goes by the name of Bamse. According to
authorities, Bamse was wearing a black leather collar with the owner’s phone
number attached.

According to police reports, a woman in her 40s is believed to have taken
the dog.
Investigators say she has ties to the Sinsen/Carl Berger and
Brugata/Storgata areas of Oslo.

“If you have any information regarding this case, please contact the police so
we can reunite the dog and its owner,” authorities stated.

As of Saturday evening, Bamse remained missing. The case underscores the
strong bond between people and their pets, and the concern felt when an animal
goes missing.

“Both we and the dog’s owner, who is 82 years old, have been searching the
area throughout the afternoon, but have not been able to find Bamse,” police
said at 9:56 p.m. local time.

A witness selling newspapers outside the store provided a description of the
woman believed to have taken Bamse,
according to police.

Authorities have not yet been able to make contact with the witness.
