Dubai’s Islamic Affairs Department has announced the opening of 13 new mosques across the emirate, with a total investment of 162 million dirhams. The newly inaugurated places of worship are part of an ongoing effort to expand religious infrastructure and serve growing communities throughout Dubai.

The department similarly revealed that during the first quarter of 2026, it completed development projects valued at 5.7 million dirhams, focusing on upgrades and enhancements to existing mosque facilities. These initiatives aim to improve accessibility, sustainability, and community engagement at local religious sites.

In related efforts, the Islamic Affairs Department has strengthened its “Mosques of the Neighborhood” initiative, which promotes social cohesion and environmental sustainability through localized mosque programming. Officials reported strong public participation in the initiative, noting increased attendance and community involvement at participating mosques.

The program, designed to foster closer ties between mosques and surrounding neighborhoods, has seen particularly high engagement in recent weeks, reflecting broad public support for efforts that connect religious spaces with daily community life.

Authorities emphasized that all projects align with Dubai’s broader vision of inclusive urban development, where faith-based institutions play an active role in enhancing neighborhood well-being and cultural vitality.
