Woman Tests Dubai’s Safety with $27,000 Handbag—and the Results Are Stunning

A Dubai resident’s social media experiment is quickly gaining attention after she left a luxury handbag unattended in a public space and returned to find it exactly where she’d left it. The video, shared by Alisha Hamirani, showcases a remarkable display of trust and security in the bustling city.

Hamirani documented herself leaving her Birkin handbag—valued at 100,000 dirhams (approximately $27,000)—in the Gold Souk area while she took a boat trip to Bur Dubai and back. She explained her reasoning in the video, stating, “I’m just going to leave my 100,000 dirham Birkin bag here. Let’s see if my bag is still here after I take the abra from Gold Souk to Bur Dubai and come back.”

The experiment wasn’t without its anxiety. Hamirani admitted she was “completely paranoid” during the boat ride, constantly wondering if her bag would still be there upon her return. She also revealed that she had conducted a similar test previously, and her husband was less than thrilled with her adventurous spirit.

However, as the video shows, her fears were unfounded. When she returned, the handbag remained untouched, exactly where she had left it. “My luxury bag was still here, nobody took it,” Hamirani said, adding that this level of security is “something you only see in Dubai.” The incident highlights Dubai’s reputation for safety and security, a key factor in its appeal as a global destination.
