Dubai is often described as a city where the streets are paved with gold. That metaphor may soon become a reality, as city authorities prepare to unveil a genuine “gold street,” according to reports.

The United Arab Emirates has announced a unique architectural project: the world’s first street constructed using real gold, the Dubai city administration’s press service reported, citing official statements from the Dubai Media Office.

The project involves rebranding Dubai’s current Gold Souk as the “Gold Street.” The new street will be part of a larger development. While press releases indicate the Gold Street will be “built using gold,” specific details – such as how the metal will be incorporated (through tiles, inlays, or decorative elements) – have not yet been officially disclosed.

Construction and unveiling dates for the project have not been announced, with detailed plans to be released incrementally.

According to authorities, the new area is intended to become a central landmark and an additional draw for tourists and investors. This initiative underscores Dubai’s continued focus on attracting international capital and bolstering its tourism sector.

The Gold Street project in Dubai’s Gold Souk is envisioned as an integrated space for trade, retail, and investment related to gold and jewelry. It will combine retail outlets and branded goods, wholesale trade of gold and bullion, investment opportunities, and trading zones, alongside services and infrastructure for international buyers.
