Jakarta – Indonesian rock music is mourning the loss of a true legend. Ecky Lamoh, former vocalist of Edane and Elpamas, has died at the age of 64.
The sad news was first shared via an Instagram Story posted by Edane, quickly spreading among fans and fellow musicians who expressed shock and grief.
“RIP Mas Ecky the rock legend,” Edane wrote in the post.
A subsequent post further confirmed Lamoh’s passing.
“Alexander Theodore Lamoh, known as Ecky Lamoh, Indonesian musician and rock singer, has returned to God. May he rest in peace, and may his family be granted patience during this difficult time. Amen.”
Lamoh had been battling an illness prior to his death, prompting an outpouring of support from the public. Edane and close friends launched a fundraising campaign to help cover his medical expenses.
“Assalaamualaikum! Please join us in praying for the recovery of our friend, Eki Lamoh, who is currently ill. We hope for a swift recovery, God willing,” Edane shared widely on social media.
Sadly, that hope was not realized.

Ecky Lamoh, born Alexander Theodore Lamoh in Jakarta on July 13, 1961, was a defining voice in Indonesian rock music during the 1980s and 90s. His distinctive, raspy, and powerful vocals became instantly recognizable to a generation of fans.
The nickname “Ecky” originated in his childhood. Young Alexander was called Leki, but his inability to pronounce his name correctly led to “Eki.” Lamoh is his family’s Minahasan surname, originating from North Sulawesi.
Lamoh’s musical career spanned decades and was marked by a diverse range of projects. He first gained prominence as the vocalist for Elpamas, a legendary rock group in Indonesia.
He later joined Edane, a top-tier rock band known for its energetic live performances and powerful guitar sound. Lamoh eventually established himself as a successful solo artist, celebrated for his unique vocal style and stage presence.
