The news of his death was confirmed by his family, according to the Polish Press Agency (PAP). Linde-Lubaszenko had been associated with the Stary Theatre in Kraków since 1973, appearing in over 50 roles there, and amassed a prolific body of function encompassing over 70 films, more than 110 theatrical productions, and over 80 appearances in Television Theatre productions.
Linde-Lubaszenko’s memorable film roles included appearances in “Kroll,” “Psy” (Dogs), “Sztos,” “Schindler’s List,” “Poranek Kojota” (Coyote Morning), and “Róża” (Rose). His work in these films cemented his status as a prominent figure in Polish cinema, and “Schindler’s List” brought his talent to an international audience.
Last year, Linde-Lubaszenko announced his retirement from acting, signaling the end of an era for Polish theatre and film. The announcement came as a reflection on a long and distinguished career.
From Medicine to the Stage: The Journey of Edward Linde-Lubaszenko
Before becoming a renowned actor, Linde-Lubaszenko initially pursued a career in medicine. He studied at the Medical Academy in Wrocław for three years, but his passion for the performing arts ultimately led him down a different path. His involvement with the Kalambur student theatre in Wrocław proved pivotal, shifting his focus from the medical field to the stage.
He ultimately graduated from the Directing Department of the State Higher School of Theatre in Kraków in 1977. Linde-Lubaszenko also explored other pursuits in his youth, including boxing and considering a career as a sailor, but his dedication to theatre remained unwavering.
