Poland’s National Bank (NBP) will release a latest gold collector’s coin on February 9th, designed to resemble a 100 złoty banknote. The coin is part of the “Polish Circulation Banknotes” series.

The coin, officially named “Banknote with a Nominal Value of 100 złoty,” is crafted from 999.9 fine gold and measures 50.00mm x 25.00mm, weighing 31.10 grams. The NBP plans to mint up to 1,500 of these coins.

The coin features a stylized depiction of a contemporary 100 złoty banknote.

The reverse side showcases a portrait of King Władysław II Jagiełło within an ornate medallion, set against a backdrop of a stylized rosette and Gothic ornamentation. A fragment of a crown is positioned to the right of the portrait, with a rosette and further ornamentation below.

The obverse displays a stylized shield bearing the eagle from the tomb of King Władysław II Jagiełło, accompanied by a Teutonic helmet, cloak, and two swords. A depiction of Malbork Castle is featured to the left of the shield, with a fragment of a crown above. The introduction of circulating banknotes from the “Polish Rulers” series began on January 1, 1995, coinciding with the złoty’s redenomination.

The coin is priced at 20,300 złoty (gross) and will be available for purchase at NBP branches and through the bank’s online store. This release marks the fourth coin in the “Polish Banknotes” series, which the National Bank of Poland initiated in 2023.

Further collector’s coins are scheduled for release on March 11th, including a 500 złoty gold coin and a 10 złoty silver coin from the “Hetmans of the Republic” series – featuring “Jan Tarnowski,” the NBP announced.
