The actress shared details about her health in a January 2 Instagram video, explaining that brain scans showed diminished function in “almost every area of my brain.” This revelation comes after Lilly, 46, publicly announced in June 2024 that she would be taking a break from acting.
The injury occurred in May 2023 while Lilly was vacationing in Hawaii. She reportedly fainted and fell face-first onto a rock, resulting in a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Lilly described the incident as leading to a need for a “reset,” and expressed gratitude for that opportunity.
Despite the discouraging news regarding her cognitive abilities, Lilly conveyed a sense of optimism in her post. “I am extraordinarily grateful and blessed to be able to live one more day and one more year on this beautiful planet,” she wrote to her followers.
Lilly also noted that the cognitive decline she’s experienced since the accident has had a positive effect on her lifestyle. “My cognitive decline since I broke my face has actually helped me to slow down and allowed me to have a more peaceful end of the year,” she explained.
