‘Evil Dead Burn’ Wraps Production, Targeting 2026 Release
Production has officially concluded on Evil Dead Burn, the sixth installment in the long-running horror franchise, with a planned theatrical release on July 24, 2026.
Filming began on July 22 in New Zealand, led by director Sébastien Vaniček, who co-wrote the script with Florent Bernard. The film stars Souheila Yacoub, Hunter Doohan, Luciane Buchanan, and Tandi Wright. Philip Lozano served as cinematographer. The Evil Dead series has maintained a dedicated fanbase since the original 1981 release, and this new chapter aims to deliver a fresh, terrifying experience.
Vaniček previously stated his intention to create a particularly visceral horror film, telling the studio, “I told the studio that I wanted to make a nasty film, a film that hurts, from which you come away tested. I’m going to put all the horror I have inside, it will be cathartic, and if I haven’t ruined my career and I can continue to make films behind it, I will move on to something other than horror!” Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert, the original creator and a longtime producer of the series, are producing through their Ghost House Pictures. Bruce Campbell and Lee Cronin, director of the previous installment Evil Dead Rise, are executive producers.
Another Evil Dead project is currently in development with writer-director Francis Galluppi, indicating the franchise’s continued expansion. New Line and Warner Bros. will distribute Evil Dead Burn, and officials have indicated they will begin marketing efforts in late 2025.
