Villanova Field Hockey to Host Providence in Final Home Game
The Villanova Wildcats will face off against the Providence Friars today, October 24, at 3:00 p.m. in their final home game of the season.
Villanova enters the contest following a pair of close losses on the road last weekend, falling 2-0 to Quinnipiac on Friday and 2-1 in overtime to Drexel on Sunday. Despite outshooting Quinnipiac 16-11, the Wildcats were unable to find the back of the net. Against Drexel, junior Colleen Finnan scored her fifth goal of the season to tie the game at one, but Drexel secured the win with a goal in the first five minutes of overtime. This game concludes Villanova’s home schedule, impacting their potential seeding in the upcoming BIG EAST tournament.
Providence currently holds an 8-6 overall record, with a 1-4 mark in BIG EAST play. The Friars lost their most recent game 2-0 to #7 Liberty on the road, a contest that was scoreless until the final five minutes of regulation. Their lone conference victory came against Georgetown on September 26, with a score of 2-0. For more information on collegiate field hockey, visit the USA Field Hockey website.
