FiiO Expands R2R DAC Lineup with Warmer R2R and BR15 R2R

FiiO has introduced two fresh desktop audio devices featuring proprietary 24-bit R2R DAC technology: the Warmer R2R and the BR15 R2R. These releases cater to different audiophile needs, offering a blend of classic and modern features. The move underscores the growing demand for high-resolution audio solutions among discerning listeners.

The FiiO Warmer R2R is a desktop DAC with a tube buffer, designed for stereo systems and active speakers. It utilizes a four-way fully differential R2R DAC circuit and includes mechanical VU meters for a retro aesthetic. The device offers both OS and NOS modes selectable via a physical switch, and supports USB PCM up to 384 kHz / 32 bits, coaxial PCM up to 192 kHz / 24 bits, and optical PCM up to 96 kHz / 24 bits. It features XLR3 balanced and dual RCA unbalanced outputs, active simultaneously, and is powered by a 46W linear audio transformer. The Warmer R2R is available in black and silver finishes and is priced around €380.

In contrast, the FiiO BR15 R2R is a compact desktop Bluetooth 6.0 streamer and DAC. It also employs a four-way fully differential 24-bit R2R DAC circuit, but focuses on wireless connectivity. The BR15 R2R supports a wide range of Bluetooth codecs including LC3, SBC, AAC, aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, LDAC, and aptX Lossless. It also offers full MQA decoding when PEQ is disabled. The device features a 1.47″ color LCD screen displaying sampling rate, volume, EQ, Bluetooth codec, and mode, along with customizable LED lighting. It includes both XLR3 balanced and RCA unbalanced outputs, as well as optical and coaxial RCA (shared input/output) digital outputs. The BR15 R2R is priced around €220 and is available in black and silver.

Both devices utilize a GD32F303RET6 (Warmer R2R) and ESP32-S3 (BR15 R2R) as their main controllers. The BR15 R2R offers 10-band PEQ and selectable OS and NOS modes managed through its menu. Firmware updates are handled via USB for both devices, with the BR15 R2R also supporting Bluetooth updates through the FiiO Control app. The BR15 R2R is compatible with the FiiO Control app and includes a remote control. The Warmer R2R is controlled via its physical front panel.

The FiiO BR15 R2R, with its focus on wireless streaming, provides a versatile solution for modern audio setups, whereas the Warmer R2R caters to those seeking a more traditional, analog-infused listening experience. The availability of both devices expands FiiO’s presence in the competitive DAC/AMP market.
