Following significant layoffs earlier this year, Turn 10 Studios has announced it will end active progress on the 2023 Forza Motorsport reboot, shifting its focus to the upcoming Forza Horizon 6. The move comes as the racing simulation failed to meet commercial expectations, prompting Microsoft to consolidate resources on its more popular open-world racing title. While existing Forza Motorsport players will still have access to online services and previously released content, the game will no longer receive new features, cars, or tracks.
Turn 10 Studios confirms Forza Motorsport will no longer receive new content, with development shifting to Forza Horizon 6.
Turn 10 Studios, the developer behind the racing simulation Forza Motorsport, has announced it will cease development of new content for the title. The decision follows significant layoffs impacting the studio earlier this summer, reportedly cutting approximately half of its workforce. This announcement comes despite previous assurances from Microsoft that the game would continue to receive post-layoff support.
Launched in 2023 as a reboot of the long-running Xbox racing franchise, Forza Motorsport was initially intended to receive long-term content support. However, the game’s market reception proved underwhelming, prompting a shift in development priorities. While Turn 10 will remain operational, the company is now focusing its internal resources on the Forza Horizon series, which has consistently demonstrated stronger commercial performance.

In a recent blog post, Turn 10 stated it will no longer add new cars, tracks, features, or routine bug fixes to Forza Motorsport. The team’s primary focus is now shifting to supporting the development of Forza Horizon 6, slated for release in 2026. This strategic realignment reflects a broader trend in the gaming industry, where developers are increasingly concentrating resources on titles with proven commercial success.
Despite the end of new content development, Forza Motorsport will not be abandoned entirely. Turn 10 confirmed that online servers will remain active, online events and competitions will continue, and previously featured tours and car rewards will be rotated monthly until all content is made permanently available to players.
Going forward, Turn 10 will primarily serve as a co-developer for Forza Horizon 6, led by UK-based studio Playground Games. Overall, this decision marks an early conclusion for the Forza Motorsport reboot and clarifies Xbox’s strategic direction for its racing franchise.
