France nearly cracked the top five and fully achieved its objective. Regardless, the nation finished sixth with 23 medals, including eight gold (a 35% gold medal rate, compared to 25% at Paris, but still behind the Netherlands’ 50%). This performance shattered previous records and solidifies France’s emergence as a winter sports contender, building on the success of an extraordinary Summer Olympics (64 medals).

“These are historic Games where we’ve broken our records for medals and titles, in line with and in the spirit of the Paris 2024 Games,” said Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, president of the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF).

France delivered a historic performance at the recent Games, finishing just shy of a top-five placement. The team’s 23-medal haul, highlighted by eight gold, represents a significant leap forward for French winter sports.

The impressive results follow a stellar showing at the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics, where France secured 64 medals. “These are historic Games where we’ve broken our records for medals and titles, in line with and in the spirit of the Paris 2024 Games,” stated Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, president of the French Olympic Committee (CNOSF).

With a gold medal percentage of 35%, France exceeded its performance in Paris (25%) and demonstrated a growing ability to compete at the highest level in winter sports. The Netherlands, however, led the way with a remarkable 50% gold medal rate. This strong showing signals a new era for French athletics and positions the nation as a force to be reckoned with on the global stage.
