Funko, the collectibles brand known for its Pop! figures, is expanding into film, television, and animation through a new content development deal. The move signals a strategic shift for the company as it looks to leverage its popular brands beyond physical products.

The company has partnered with Rideback, the production company behind “The LEGO Movie” franchise and Netflix’s “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” and Spuree, an AI-enabled entertainment company, Variety reported February 23, 2026. The collaboration will focus on creating original Funko-driven projects across animation, hybrid formats, live-action, scripted, and unscripted content.

According to the partners, the agreement “is designed to unlock new storytelling opportunities rooted in Funko’s globally recognized brands and deep fan engagement, while building scalable franchises that can live across screens, platforms, and other consumer touchpoints.”

“Funko sits at the center of fan culture and transforms the moments people love into collectibles, with more than one billion products in the hands of fans worldwide,” said Josh Simon, CEO of Funko. “Rideback’s exceptional ability to transform beloved toys and figures – like Lego and ‘Lilo & Stitch’ – into expansive, emotional stories makes them an ideal partner. Together with Spuree, we look forward to opening a new chapter of storytelling for Funko fans around the globe.”

Specific project details have not yet been announced, but the companies expect to share more information at a later date. A Funko movie has been in development at Warner Bros. For several years, though it has not progressed beyond the development stage.
