While gasoline prices will fall to 15,912 pesos, diesel prices will remain unchanged, according to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

Gasoline prices in Medellín will decrease slightly starting this weekend, offering some relief to drivers in the Colombian city. The national government decreed a reduction of 500 pesos per gallon, bringing the price of regular gasoline to 15,912 pesos, according to the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

The price adjustment took effect nationwide on February 1, and is being applied uniformly across the country, though regional differences remain. On average, prices in the 13 largest cities fell from 16,057 to 15,557 pesos per gallon, a decrease of 3.1% compared to January, as reported by El Colombiano.

Despite the reduction, Medellín’s gasoline prices remain in line with the national average. Pasto currently has the lowest prices at 13,747 pesos, followed by Cúcuta at 13,900 pesos. Villavicencio and Cali are seeing the highest prices, at 16,091 and 16,002 pesos respectively.

Diesel prices remain unchanged.

Minister of Mines and Energy Edwin Palma explained that the reduction is a result of adjustments to the Fuel Price Stabilization Fund (FEPC), which aimed to address accumulated deficits from previous years and provide cost savings to consumers.

The ministry announced it will monitor gas stations throughout the country to ensure the price reduction is accurately implemented.
