Levski, currently leading the Bulgarian First League, received a positive update as captain Georgi Kostadinov has resumed running drills, according to reports.
The experienced 35-year-old midfielder, who hinted at retirement at the end of the season, sustained a muscle injury during the 1-0 victory over Beroe.
Kostadinov scored the winning goal in Stara Zagora, but was forced to leave the match due to the injury. The setback kept him out of the squad for the home game against Cherno More, which Levski won 2-1 prior to the international break. Kostadinov is expected to be available for the away match against Dobrudzha on Sunday, April 5.
Central defender Kristian Dimitrov and forward Everton Bala remain sidelined for Levski. Dimitrov suffered an issue during the match against Cherno More and was substituted in added time. He subsequently joined the national team for the FIFA Series tour in Indonesia, but was released after a medical evaluation. Bala is likely being given an extended rest by head coach Julio Velazquez.
Winger Karl Fabien and striker Mustafa Sangare continue their recovery in Levski’s treatment room.
