Hollywood’s awards season officially kicked off Sunday night with the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards, where “One Battle After Another” and “Hamnet” took the top prizes for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and Best Motion Picture – Drama, respectively. The ceremony, hosted by Nikki Glaser and broadcast on CBS and Paramount Plus, recognized excellence in both film and television, signaling potential contenders for March’s Academy awards. A full list of winners follows, including a nod to the newly-recognized podcasting category and standout performances from actors including Timothy Chalamet and Jessie Buckley.

The dark comedy “One Battle After Another” and “Hamnet,” a poignant story exploring William Shakespeare and the weight of loss, took home the top prizes at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, kicking off Hollywood’s annual awards season. “One Battle After Another” was recognized as the best musical or comedy film, while “Hamnet” earned the title of best dramatic film.

Timothy Chalamet triumphed over a field of established stars, winning best actor in a musical or comedy film for his performance as a professional table tennis player in “Marty Supreme.” The win came against formidable competition, including Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney, at the ceremony held in Beverly Hills, California.

“This category is filled with heroes,” Chalamet told his fellow nominees. “You are all inspirations to me.” He added, with a touch of humor, “I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this moment that much sweeter,” according to Reuters.

“Good Hang with Amy Poller” won the Golden Globe’s newly created award for podcasting.

“This is an attempt to spread a little love and laughter in a harsh world that lacks kindness. Laughing *with* people, not *at* them. We’re really having a great time making this show,” Poller said while accepting the award.

The catchy tune “Golden” from the popular Netflix K-pop drama “K-Pop Demon Hunters” also took home the award for best original song. Singer Eiji, an American artist of Korean descent, said upon accepting the award, “It’s never too late to shine in your field as you are meant to.”

The first award of the night went to Tiana Taylor, who won best supporting actress in a motion picture for “One Battle After Another.”

Golden Globe host Nikki Glaser joked that the awards show was “undoubtedly the most important thing happening in the world right now.” The Golden Globes are among the first major Hollywood awards of 2026, preceding the highly anticipated Academy Awards in March.

Golden Globe voters, comprised of over 300 entertainment journalists from around the world, operate independently from the Academy Awards’ nearly 9,000 voters. While the Globes don’t directly influence Oscar selections, a win can significantly boost a contender’s visibility.
