Urawa Red Diamonds manager Maciej Skorża is set to depart at the end of the current season, according to club officials.
The decision follows a six-match losing streak that has left the team in seventh place in the Eastern region of the J1 League, with a 17-point gap to league leaders Kashima Antlers.
Club management communicated the non-renewal of Skorża’s contract on April 21, 2026, confirming that he will remain in charge for the remainder of the season.
Skorża, 54, has been under increasing pressure as results have deteriorated, with the team’s performance raising concerns about competitiveness in Japan’s top-flight football.
The upcoming 2026/27 season, set to begin in August, will see Urawa Red Diamonds appoint a new head coach after the conclusion of the J1 League’s Centennial Vision League phase in June.
While the announcement focuses on sporting performance, leadership stability in professional sports organizations can influence community engagement and public wellness initiatives tied to local teams.
