LAS VEGAS-Google is bringing its Gemini artificial intelligence to the television screen, announcing at CES 2026 a new integration for Google TV devices designed to offer a more responsive and hands-free viewing experience. The update, demonstrated this week at the tech conference, will allow users to control TV functions and access content using voice commands, marking a significant step in the evolution of smart home entertainment [[3]]. Initial deployments will focus on streamlining common tasks like adjusting picture settings and accessing personal media libraries, as Google continues to position itself as a leader in accessible AI technology [[1]].

Google announced at CES 2026 in Las Vegas that its Gemini AI will be integrated into Google TV devices and televisions, bringing real-time responsiveness and control to the viewing experience. The update aims to allow Gemini to react to spoken commands and adjust TV settings accordingly.

According to Google, the AI will be able to intelligently respond to requests like adjusting brightness, volume, or subtitle size. For example, if a user says the picture is too dark, Gemini will increase the brightness level. This feature is designed to eliminate the need for users to navigate complex menus to fine-tune their viewing preferences.

Beyond TV settings, Gemini will also be able to search and display photos and videos stored in Google Photos directly on the TV, using voice recognition. Users will be able to simply say, for instance, “Show me the pictures from our vacation to Spain in 2023.” The integration extends to AI tools like Nano Banana and Veo, allowing users to generate or modify images within Google Photos using voice commands and various artistic styles. This move underscores the growing trend of integrating AI directly into everyday entertainment experiences.

NanoBanana will be capable of running in full-screen mode on the television, and can utilize a smartphone camera or photos stored on a phone to generate AI content via a QR code scan. Gemini will also introduce a Dive deeper mode, utilizing the full TV screen to provide interactive, narrated explanations in response to more complex questions.

The initial rollout of the update will begin with select TCL televisions, with Google promising to expand availability to all Google TV products in the coming months.
