Other top winners included Los Tigres and Sirât, garnering awards across technical and artistic categories. The awards, presented by the Spanish Academy of Film, honor both Spanish-produced films and international works, with separate categories for Ibero-American and European films. A complete list of winners follows.

Los domingos, from Alauda Ruiz de Azúa, is leading the pack with 13 nominations as the 2026 Goya Awards race heats up. The film is closely followed by Oliver Laxe’s Sirât, with 11 nominations, and Maspalomas, directed by Jose Mari Goenaga and Aitor Arregi, which garnered 9. Manuel Gómez Pereira’s La cena received 8 nods, while Sorda (by Eva Libertad), El cautivo (from Alejandro Amenábar), and Los tigres (by Alberto Rodríguez) each earned 7 nominations. Carla Simón’s Romería is also a strong contender with 6 nominations.

The 40th edition of the awards ceremony will be held on February 28 at the Auditori del Centre de Convencions Internacionals de Barcelona (CCIB). Director Gonzalo Suárez will receive the Goya Honorary Award at the ceremony, recognizing his significant contribution to Spanish cinema.

A total of 218 Spanish films released in the country between January 1 and December 31, 2025, were submitted for consideration this year. Of those, 122 were fiction films, 87 were documentaries, and 9 were animated features. Notably, 67 of the submitted films marked the directorial debut for their creators.
