The Grammy Awards kicked off with a high-energy performance by Rosé and Bruno Mars, delivering a dynamic rendition of their hit song “APT,” which drew a roaring applause from the audience, according to the Associated Press.
Host Trevor Noah, returning for his sixth time leading the Grammy ceremony, opened with a monologue highlighting the diverse range of talent among this year’s nominees. He joked that Jelly Roll and Teddy Swims, with their similar facial tattoos, “should be able to unlock each other’s phones.” Following Noah’s opening, Sabrina Carpenter took the stage to perform “Manchild,” earning a standing ovation.

Kendrick Lamar was the first winner of the night, taking home the award for Best Rap Album.
“It’s an honor to be here. Hip-hop will always be here… we’ll continue to create culture with it,” Lamar said upon accepting his award. The artist entered the evening with a leading nine nominations, solidifying his position as a dominant force in contemporary music.
This win also makes Lamar the most-awarded rapper in Grammy history, surpassing Jay-Z’s previous record.

Polish Duo Misses Out on Grammy
Polish classical guitar duo Mateusz Kowalski and Mak Grgić were also nominated in the category of Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance for “Slavic Sessions,” but did not win, with the award going to Alan Pierson and Alarm Will Sound for “Dennehy: Land Of Winter.”
