Strong Winds and Scattered Showers Continue Across New Hampshire

Gusty winds from Halloween night are continuing across New Hampshire this Saturday, with showers possible in northern areas, before conditions are expected to improve Sunday.

Winds remain strong throughout the day, with gusts potentially exceeding 35 mph, and have already caused isolated power outages in towns like Guilford and Dover, where gusts reached around 50 mph overnight. These conditions pose a risk to remaining Halloween decorations, and residents are advised to secure them. Higher elevations in northern New Hampshire are experiencing showers, with a mix of rain and light snow, while valleys are seeing cold raindrops. This weather pattern could impact travel in the White Mountains.

Temperatures are currently in the 30s and 40s, with highs expected to reach the mid-50s, though the wind chill will make it feel more like the 40s. Skies should become partly to mostly sunny in southern New Hampshire this afternoon, while northern areas will remain cloudier. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour tonight at 2 a.m. as daylight saving time ends; the New Hampshire state government reminds residents to also check their smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Looking ahead, Monday will start beautifully but with increasing clouds and a chance of showers late in the day. Tuesday will be breezy with showers in the north and fair skies to the south. For more detailed forecasts, visit the National Weather Service. Officials say the winds will relax significantly after dark tonight, with mostly sunny and pleasant conditions expected for Sunday.
