Al Haouz Tourism: Nightly Stays Up 4% in 2025 Despite December Dip

Morocco’s tourism sector saw a significant increase in overnight stays throughout 2025, with a 9% rise nationally, according to recent data. The growth underscores the country’s continued appeal as a travel destination, even as some regions experienced fluctuations in December.

The total number of overnight stays in classified tourist accommodations across Morocco exceeded 43.4 million by the end of December 2025, an increase from the same period in 2024. The occupancy rate in these establishments reached 58% by the end of the year, a 3-point improvement year-over-year.

The Al Haouz province, a popular tourist destination, recorded approximately 1.383 million overnight stays in 2025, a 4% increase compared to 2024. The province’s occupancy rate in classified accommodations reached 78% by the end of December 2025, up 4 points from the previous year, according to the Tourism Observatory.

Though, December saw a downturn in Al Haouz, with 108,000 overnight stays recorded – a 12% decrease compared to December 2024. The occupancy rate in the province’s tourist establishments also fell to 63% in December, a 12-point regression from the previous year.

These figures come from statistics released by the Tourism Observatory covering the period from January to December 2025.
