Central New York Golfers Record Multiple Holes-in-One, Veteran Shoots Age

A flurry of impressive feats on the golf course has been reported across Central New York and neighboring areas this month, including multiple holes-in-one and a golfer exceeding a significant milestone.

On October 12, Luke Snyder achieved a hole-in-one on the 161-yard No. 10 hole at Weequahic Golf Course in Newark, NJ, using a 7-iron, witnessed by David Snyder and Tom Klein. Also on October 12, Kevin Collins aced the 130-yard No. 3 hole at Camillus GC with a pitching wedge, with Casey Collins, Keven Collins, and Finn Collins as witnesses. Rhonda Museum recorded a hole-in-one on the No. 6 hole at Cazenovia CC using a 5 hybrid, observed by Terri Fox and Mary Deuble, and Larry Beyer achieved the same feat on the 143-yard No. 3 hole at Pinegrove using a 7-iron, with Deb Beyer witnessing. Earlier in the week, on October 11, Josh DeFino scored a hole-in-one on the 113-yard No. 17 hole at Beaver Meadows using a 9-iron, witnessed by Sal Lomedico, Jason Coopper, and Jamie Crandall, while Timothy Hyatt achieved a hole-in-one on the 134-yard No. 12 hole at West Hill using an 8-iron, observed by Gavin McGunnigle.

Additional holes-in-one were reported earlier this month: John Landry on October 7 at Pinegrove’s No. 14 hole (133 yards, 8-iron, witnessed by Don Cooke) and Gene Tracy on September 13 at Stone Creek’s No. 4 hole (125 yards, pitching wedge, witnessed by Jim Bush, Tim McNamara, and Dennis Wallace). These rare accomplishments are considered a highlight for any golfer, requiring a combination of skill and luck. Beyond the holes-in-one, Zeke Zakreski, age 82, shot a remarkable 77 at Battle Island Golf Course yesterday, October 14, shooting his age, witnessed by Dick Shults, Doug Alexander, and Kevin McCarthy – a feat many golfers strive for. The frequency of these accomplishments highlights the continued popularity and skill level of golfers in the Central New York region. Local golf courses often see increased play during the fall months as golfers attempt to squeeze in as much time on the links as possible before winter. Officials at the respective courses confirmed the reports and stated they will be recognizing the golfers’ achievements in the coming days.
