Honor is expanding its Magic 8 series with a forthcoming “Mini” model, signaling a potential response to consumer demand for more compact, high-end smartphones. Leaked specifications suggest the device, currently in prototype, aims to balance premium features with a smaller form factor-reportedly as slim as 5-6 millimeters [[3]].The upcoming release will position Honor against rivals like Oppo, iQOO, and OnePlus in a competitive segment of the market, and may arrive after the base and Pro models launch [[2]].
Honor is reportedly planning a compact addition to its recently announced Magic 8 series, with new details emerging about a potential “Magic 8 Mini” model. The device, unveiled in October, is shaping up to be a contender in the increasingly competitive premium smartphone market.
According to Digital Chat Station, a generally reliable source of leaks, the Magic 8 Mini is currently in the prototype phase. The latest information suggests the phone will feature a 6.31-inch flat LTPO OLED display with a 1.5K resolution. While the term “1.5K” is often used by Chinese manufacturers, it falls between the more commonly recognized Full HD and QHD resolutions.
A key selling point for the Magic 8 Mini could be its slim profile, with estimates placing the device’s thickness between 5 and 6 millimeters. Powering the compact flagship is expected to be the Dimensity 9500 chipset. The thin design may necessitate a compromise on battery capacity, with a projected 5500 mAh cell. The camera system is anticipated to include a 200-megapixel primary sensor, though Honor is also considering a 50-megapixel sensor with a 1/1.5-inch size.
Notably, the rear camera setup is expected to include a telephoto lens. The Honor Magic 8 Mini shares similarities with the Vivo X300, which also boasts a 6.3-inch display and the same hardware platform. The Vivo X300 managed to incorporate a 6040 mAh battery, but its chassis is thicker, measuring approximately 8 mm. The Magic 8 Mini will face competition from high-end rivals such as the Oppo Find X9s, iQOO 15 Mini, and OnePlus 15T. A release date for the device remains unknown.
