Huawei has officially launched its latest flagship smartphone series, the Mate 80, in China, offering three distinct models – a standard version, a Pro, and a Pro max [[1]]. Huawei has unveiled its Mate 80 series in China, consisting of a standard model, a Pro version, and a Pro Max variant. The Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro share a similar design and are available in the same color options. Both devices boast IP68/69 water and dust resistance and are equipped with a 5750 mAh battery.

Both phones feature a 6.75-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 2832 pixels and a variable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120 Hz. They also include a 13-megapixel front-facing camera with autofocus, 3D face recognition capabilities, and support for satellite communication, NFC, and a comprehensive suite of sensors. The Mate 80 is powered by the Kirin 9020 chipset, while the Mate 80 Pro receives a processor that is approximately 35% faster. Configurations with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage paired with the Kirin 9030 Pro offer an additional 7% performance boost. The Mate 80 Pro Max also utilizes the Kirin 9030 Pro.
While the rear panel design appears consistent across the models, the zoom camera differs. Alongside a 50-megapixel main camera with a variable aperture (f/1.4-f/4) and a 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor, and a 40-megapixel ultrawide lens, the base Mate 80 features a 12-megapixel periscope telephoto lens with 5.5x optical zoom. The Mate 80 Pro, however, incorporates a 48-megapixel zoom camera with 4x magnification and a f/2.1 aperture, suitable for macro photography. Both models leverage Huawei’s second-generation Red Maple chip for image processing, assisted by laser focus and infrared light metering during image capture. This focus on camera technology underscores the ongoing competition in mobile photography.
The Mate 80 supports 66W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, while the Mate 80 Pro offers faster charging speeds of 100W wired and 80W wireless. Both devices benefit from Huawei’s extreme power-saving mode, with the Mate 80 Pro achieving up to 13 days of standby time and 33 hours of navigation without a display.
The Mate 80 and Mate 80 Pro are available in black, white, green, and rose gold, with storage options of 12GB/256GB and 16GB/512GB. The Pro version also offers a 1TB storage option for approximately 372,000 Hungarian Forint. The base model starts at around 219,000 Hungarian Forint, while the Pro model begins at 279,000 Hungarian Forint for the lowest RAM/storage configuration.
