Former BEAST member Jang Hyunseung is making headlines after publicly apologizing to a fan for his past behavior and reconnecting with her years later. The singer, who has been dubbed as having undergone a “transformation,” recently addressed the incident during an appearance on the YouTube channel ‘Civilization Express.’
On February 16, 2026, a video titled “Jang Hyunseung Has Changed” was released on ‘Civilization Express.’ During the episode, Jang Hyunseung hosted an A/S fan signing event for long-time supporters. Prior to the event, fans who could identify changes in his demeanor – dubbed “status” evaluators – were present.
One fan, known online as “Come Here,” shared her story of attending a fan signing as a middle schooler and being hurt by Jang Hyunseung’s perceived lack of enthusiasm. She revealed that after her story appeared on ‘Civilization Express,’ she received a direct message from the singer the following day.
According to the fan, Jang Hyunseung’s message read, “I was someone who was distant but also close to you, but I treated you worse than anyone else. I regret it a lot. I would be happy if we could meet again by chance, but I hope One can meet by fate.”
The fan and Jang Hyunseung were able to reconnect, and she requested a “we made up” selfie, which he happily obliged. This gesture marks a significant moment for the artist, who faced criticism in 2016 for his attitude and subsequently left the group before enlisting in the military in 2018.
Jang Hyunseung’s recent efforts to reconnect with fans, including his use of a paid fan communication platform, have resonated with many, with some observers noting a striking change in his persona – a transformation that has sparked the “exorcism completed” meme online. This incident highlights the growing trend of artists actively addressing past controversies and seeking to rebuild relationships with their fanbase.
The singer originally debuted with BEAST in 2009 and later formed the duo Trouble Maker with Hyuna in 2011. He has since been focusing on reconnecting with fans and demonstrating a renewed commitment to his public image.
