Ian Huntley, who murdered two 10-year-old girls in 2002, died in hospital after being assaulted although incarcerated, multiple British media outlets including Sky News have reported.
The 52-year-old was found seriously injured on February 26th at Frankland prison, a high-security facility in Durham County. Police stated he was attacked with a metal bar by another prisoner. A man in his 40s is currently under investigation in connection with the incident.
Huntley was serving two life sentences for the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, two 10-year-old girls who disappeared from Soham, Cambridgeshire, in 2002. Their disappearance sparked a nationwide search before their bodies were discovered 13 days later. The case remains a deeply sensitive topic in the United Kingdom.

Durham Police confirmed Huntley’s death Saturday morning at a local hospital. An investigation is underway, and a report will be submitted to the coroner to determine the circumstances surrounding his death.
