Oppo Find X9 Red Color Option Likely Limited to Import for European Customers

The highly anticipated red color variant of the Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro smartphones will likely only be available to European customers through import, as the company appears to be excluding it from the official European launch.

The Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro are scheduled to launch in Europe on October 28, with the Pro model currently boasting what many consider the best smartphone camera thanks to its Hasselblad partnership, until the Find X9 Ultra arrives next year. While European models will come in standard color options, enthusiasts desiring the red finish will need to consider importing the device. Several retailers, including Tradingshenzhen, Wondamobile, and Giztop, are already listing the phones for pre-order, with prices ranging from €647 to €1,016 depending on configuration. This limited color availability could influence purchasing decisions as consumers weigh the convenience of local stock against their preferred aesthetic.

Importing the Chinese model presents potential drawbacks, including the lack of eSIM support, compatibility issues with Wear OS watches and Android Auto, and possible notification problems due to power-saving features in ColorOS 16. However, the Oppo Find X9 Pro supports LTE band 20 and a wide range of 5G bands, ensuring connectivity in Europe. The base Find X9 model lacks band 20, making it unsuitable for import. For detailed specifications and comparisons, resources like GSM Arena can be helpful. Retailers suggest prices include customs, taxes, and import fees, but warranty claims and returns may be more complex than purchasing from an EU-based retailer.

Currently, Tradingshenzhen is a recommended retailer due to its established partnership with Notebookcheck, but customers are advised to exercise caution when using Wondamobile and Giztop. Oppo has not yet commented on the reasons for the color restriction, but officials stated they will continue to monitor customer demand and adjust future product offerings accordingly.

Unfortunately, it seems like Oppo will not officially launch the good-looking red model of the Find X9 series in Europe, at least according to a recent leak. However, there are a few options for buyers who contemplate importing their new smartphone. We are looking at prices, retailers and the limitations of the Chinese model variants.

The European launch of the Oppo Find X9 and Find X9 Pro is already scheduled for October 28. The latter currently has the best Hasselblad smartphone camera, at least until the Oppo Find X9 Ultra launches next year. These phones will hit the European market with high price tags, as revealed by a recent leak. If these details prove to be correct, the Find X9 Pro will be quite expensive in Europe, and it won’t be available in the sleek red color option, which might entice some enthusiasts to import their new phone.

Three well-known retailers have already listed the Oppo Find X9 and the Oppo Find X9 Pro in their online stores, and Wondamobile says these devices will be available starting October 27. While Europe will likely only get a single configuration with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage on the Find X9 and 16GB RAM plus 512GB storage on the Find X9 Pro, customers in China have more variants to choose from. Installing Google apps is usually not an issue, but the Chinese models do not support eSIM, Wear OS watches and potentially Android Auto. Furthermore, the power-saving mechanisms in the Chinese version of ColorOS 16 could cause problems with incoming notifications if users don’t optimize them manually.

According to the official spec sheet, only the Oppo Find X9 Pro supports the important LTE band 20 and a wide range of 5G bands, so there shouldn’t be any issues in terms of connectivity in Europe. On the other hand, the Oppo Find X9 lacks band 20, so we would not recommend importing the base model. The table below compares the current European prices from the three retailers, namely Tradingshenzhen, Wondamobile and Giztop.

We can recommend Tradingshenzhen as a long-time partner of Notebookcheck, but we have no experience with the other two. Returns and enforcing warranty claims might be very difficult and is not as comfortable as with EU-based retailers. That said, these prices from all three shops supposedly include customs, taxes and import fees. All color choices are available at these stores, including the red Oppo Find X9 that will likely be exclusive to the Chinese market.

  Tradingshenzhen Wondamobile Giztop
Oppo Find X9 Pro 12/256 €777 €828 €787
Oppo Find X9 Pro 16/512 €877 €922 €874
Oppo Find X9 Pro 16/1TB €977 €1,016 €962
Oppo Find X9 12/256 €647 €708 €655
Oppo Find X9 16/512 €767 €828 €787
 Oppo Find X9 16/1TB €857 €896
