Insta360, the action camera specialist, has unveiled two new 4K webcams – the Link 2 Pro and Link 2C Pro – packed with artificial intelligence features designed for content creators, educators, and remote workers. The launch underscores the growing demand for high-quality webcam solutions as remote and hybrid work models become increasingly prevalent.

The company stated its goal with the new generation is to deliver a video and audio experience approaching the quality of professional cameras and microphones.

Larger Sensor and Improved Low-Light Performance

Both cameras feature a larger 1/1.3-inch sensor with dual ISO support, offering enhanced performance in low-light conditions compared to previous models. They also support HDR technology to improve contrast and overall image quality.

On the audio side, Insta360 is utilizing beamforming technologies combined with AI-powered noise cancellation to deliver clearer sound in busy environments. The cameras offer four distinct audio capture modes, including a “Focus” mode to isolate a single speaker’s voice and a “Wide” mode for multi-person conversations.

4K Video and Intelligent Autofocus

The Link 2 Pro and Link 2C Pro can record video at up to 4K resolution at 30 frames per second. They also incorporate an updated True Focus system based on phase detection autofocus (PDAF) to keep users sharp and in focus during movement. A Natural Bokeh mode is also included, simulating the shallow depth of field effect found in DSLR cameras.

Key Differences Between the Models

The primary distinction between the two models lies in the Link 2 Pro’s inclusion of a 2-axis gimbal with AI-powered intelligent tracking. This allows the camera to automatically follow a single person or a group. The Link 2C Pro, in contrast, features a fixed design intended for stationary use cases.

Both models support gesture control, enabling users to start or stop tracking, zoom in or out, without physically touching the camera. They also feature a magnetic base for easy mounting on metallic surfaces.

Features Tailored for Education and Presentations

Insta360 has integrated several modes to support presentations and educational use, including:

  • Smart Whiteboard, which automatically recognizes and frames whiteboards.
  • DeskView, which provides an overhead view of a desktop surface.
  • Support for green screen functionality, vertical video mode, and virtual backgrounds.

Intelligent Meeting Assistant Support

The cameras also support Insta360 InSight, an AI-powered meeting assistant available through a paid subscription. InSight offers features like meeting recording, transcript generation, and content summarization.

Pricing and Availability

The Link 2 Pro will be available for $250, while the Link 2C Pro is priced around $200. Both models are currently available for purchase.
