Doha, Qatar – On February 11, 2026, Qatar’s Emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, held discussions with Ali Larijani, Advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader, focusing on the status of negotiations between Iran and the United States. The meetings, which took place in Doha, as well included Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.
According to reports, the talks centered on regional developments and the latest progress in discussions between Tehran and Washington. Qatar reiterated its support for efforts to de-escalate tensions and find peaceful resolutions to regional issues, emphasizing the importance of strengthening security and stability. The Qatari side affirmed a commitment to continued diplomatic efforts to help resolve disagreements between the involved parties.
This development comes as international observers closely monitor the potential for a renewed nuclear agreement with Iran. Earlier, on July 10, Sheikh Tamim also spoke by phone with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, discussing bilateral relations and cooperation, with a particular focus on the stalled negotiations in Doha regarding the restoration of the Iran nuclear deal.
While Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has expressed optimism about reaching a new agreement that surpasses the original nuclear accord, concerns remain about the broader geopolitical implications of a potential deal.
