Iran Says It Is Prepared for Potential Ground Invasion by U.S. Forces
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated that the country is ready to confront a possible ground invasion by the United States. The remarks, made during an interview with NBC News, also included a rejection of any negotiations with the U.S. And a denial that Iran has sought a ceasefire.
Speaking with Tom Llamas of Nightly News from Tehran, Araghchi adopted a defiant tone when asked if he feared a potential U.S. Ground war. “No, we are waiting for them,” he said. “As we are confident that we can face them, and for them it would be a great disaster.”
The statement comes amid heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear program. Recent updates on nuclear talks have indicated little progress, and both sides have maintained firm positions.
Araghchi’s comments suggest Iran is not willing to compromise in the face of pressure from the United States. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has previously indicated it will not yield to threats during negotiations. The development underscores the potential for further escalation in the region.
Meanwhile, Narges Mohammadi, a Nobel Prize winner, has recently been sentenced to six years in prison by Iran, adding to concerns about human rights within the country.
