“If the enemy wants to take action on land in the Iranian islands or anywhere else in our lands or to inflict costs on Iran with naval movements in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, we will open other fronts for them as a surprise,” the source told Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency. “So that their action will not only be of no benefit to them but will also double their costs.”
Threat to the Strait
“The Bab al-Mandab Strait is among the most strategically important sea lanes in the world, and Iran has the will and ability to pose a truly serious threat to this strait,” the source added. The development underscores growing regional instability and potential disruptions to international commerce.
Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, the speaker of the Iranian parliament, later stated that intelligence services had detected plans by “enemies” to occupy an Iranian island, with support from an unnamed regional country. “Iranian forces are monitoring enemy movements, and if they take any action, we will attack vital infrastructure in that regional country,” Qalibaf said in a post on social media.
