Tensions are escalating in the Middle East following the killing of a senior Hezbollah commander in Beirut, prompting a strong warning of retaliation from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard. The Guard vowed a “crushing” response against Israel, raising fears of a broader regional conflict amid ongoing hostilities between Israel and the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. This latest growth comes as Israel continues strikes within lebanon targeting suspected Hezbollah infrastructure.

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard warned Monday that retaliation for the killing of a Hezbollah commander is “reserved,” and vowed a “crushing” response against Israel “at the appropriate time.” The statement comes amid heightened regional tensions and fears of a wider conflict between Israel and the Lebanese militant group.

According to a statement released by the Guard, the “axis of resistance” and Hezbollah retain the right to avenge the deaths of “brave Islamic fighters.” The Guard asserted that the killing of Haytham Tabatabaei in the Southern Suburbs of Beirut “will not go unpunished.”

The Guard further stated that the axis of resistance “possesses the capability and will to deter the Zionist enemy,” emphasizing that the military option “remains strongly on the table.”

The warning follows a recent escalation in hostilities, with Israel conducting a series of strikes in Lebanon over the past week, targeting what it says are rocket launch platforms and weapons caches belonging to Hezbollah. This increased military activity has raised concerns about a potential broadening of the conflict.

Haytham Tabatabaei was a prominent commander within Hezbollah’s military wing and was killed Sunday in an Israeli airstrike that hit a residential area south of the Lebanese capital, Beirut. His death represents a significant blow to the organization.

Last week, the Israeli military intensified its strikes on targets in Lebanon, announcing it had struck rocket launch pads and arms depots associated with Hezbollah.
