In January 2026, Speed embarked on a tour of several African countries. Before arriving in Algeria this weekend, he visited Ethiopia and Egypt. In Algiers, he received a welcome that even surprised him, meeting Algerian rapper Fianso and then being swarmed by thousands of fans in the city center. Speed had planned to cap off his Algerian visit with a livestream from Nelson Mandela Stadium in Algiers, where the Algerian Super Cup final between the city’s two biggest clubs, MC Alger and USM Alger, was taking place Saturday night.
The livestream was being watched by 300,000 people when some spectators began throwing plastic bottles and paper balls at him.
The incident stemmed from Speed making an obscene gesture towards the stands, which angered those in attendance. Many fans also objected to being filmed without their consent and did not want to be featured in a livestream on social media.
