Nine people were killed in a missile strike near Jerusalem as Israel and Iran exchanged attacks on March 1.
The attack on Beit Shemesh also left seven people injured, according to reports.
Police in Jerusalem stated that some of the victims had been sheltering in a synagogue when they were struck. At least 30 others were wounded in the attack.
Meanwhile, Tehran is reportedly striking targets in the Middle East with missiles and drones.
Israel has continued its airstrikes on Tehran.
The Israel Defense Forces announced that targets included Revolutionary Guard Corps sites and an internal security complex. Parts of the Iranian Radio and Television Organization were also reportedly hit.
Prior to these attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that attacks on Tehran would escalate, following a claim of responsibility for the killing of Ayatollah Hamaney.
Speaking from a rooftop in Tel Aviv, Netanyahu said, “We have eliminated dozens of senior officials of the Hamaney dictatorship and its repressive regime.”
U.S. President Donald Trump also made statements to various news outlets throughout Sunday.
Speaking to the British tabloid *The Daily Mail*, Trump said that Iran is a “substantial country” and that the conflict would be over “in four weeks or less.”
In a statement to Fox Television, he claimed that 48 Iranian commanders were killed simultaneously in the attacks.
Trump, who also said Iran wants to negotiate, posted a video on social media calling on Revolutionary Guards, police, and security forces to lay down their arms.
He also stated that “the American people should expect losses” related to the deaths of three U.S. Soldiers.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced the first deaths of U.S. Military personnel on March 1.
The brief statement indicated that three U.S. Soldiers were killed and five were critically injured in the Iranian attack.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) also stated that a Jamaran-class warship belonging to Iran had been sunk by U.S. Forces.

CENTCOM denied claims that the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier had been hit, stating that Iranian missiles did not reach the ship.
A subsequent information note released by CENTCOM stated that more than 1,000 Iranian targets were struck within the first 24 hours of “Epic Fury.”
Trump announced on social media that nine Iranian warships had been “destroyed and sunk.”
“And the rest are being hunted down – they’ll be at the bottom of the sea soon!” he posted.
The Israeli government announced the mobilization of 100,000 reserve soldiers.

Abu Dhabi Airport Hit
Flight cancellations are occurring as Iran targets locations across the Middle East.
Turkish Airlines canceled flights to Lebanon, Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Jordan on Sunday.
AFP news agency correspondents reported hearing explosions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Doha, Qatar, and Dubai, Bahrain, and the United Arab Emirates on the morning of March 1.
One person was killed and 11 injured in an incident at Dubai International Airport, one of the world’s busiest.
Abu Dhabi authorities confirmed that one person was killed and seven injured by shrapnel when a drone was neutralized targeting Zayed International Airport.
Four personnel were injured in an “incident” at Dubai International Airport.
Authorities did not provide further details.
Bahrain’s state media reported that the country’s air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a new wave of ballistic missiles and drones launched from Iran.
Kuwait’s official news agency reported the destruction of 97 ballistic missiles and 283 drones fired from Iran. One person was killed and 32 injured in the country, it said.
Qatar’s Defense Ministry said in a statement that its warplanes and air defense systems successfully intercepted Iranian drones and missiles.
Oman media also reported that a port had been bombed.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps announced that it would target U.S. Bases and Israel in retaliation for the death of Ayatollah Ali Hamaney.
The announcement stated, “The most destructive attack operation in the history of the Iranian armed forces will begin in a few minutes towards occupied territories and American terrorist bases.”
Pezeşkiyan: ‘Taking revenge for Hamaney is our legitimate right’
Iranian President Masoud Pezeşkiyan said on the morning of March 1 that taking revenge for Hamaney was a “legitimate right and duty.”
Pezeşkiyan also claimed that the killing of Hamaney was a “declaration of war against Muslims.”
Iran’s vice president instructed all ministers and governors to ensure the country’s continued administration despite the war.
Hamas also released a message of condolence on March 1, describing the death of Hamaney as a “treacherous” U.S.-Israeli attack.
Hamas stated, “He has provided our people, our cause, and our resistance with all kinds of political, diplomatic, and military support.”

Protests in Pakistan and Iraq
At least 21 people were killed during pro-Iran protests in Karachi, Pakistan, in front of the U.S. Consulate.
Hundreds of protesters attempted to storm the consulate.
A group of young people climbed over the main gate, reaching the entrance to the consulate building and breaking some windows.
Demonstrations are also taking place in Baghdad, Iraq.
Thousands of people took to the streets in the eastern city of Lahore and in Skardu in the north.
AFP reported that a demonstration was expected near the diplomatic zone in Islamabad, home to the U.S. Embassy, later in the afternoon.
