Israeli forces are preparing for a potential multi-day offensive into Lebanon, according to reports from Hebrew-language media. The preparation comes amid ongoing tensions and daily violations of a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

A ceasefire between Hezbollah and Israel has been in place since November 27, 2024, but Israel has reportedly breached the agreement daily, resulting in hundreds of casualties. The escalating situation raises concerns about a wider conflict in the region.

A senior Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity, told Yisrael Hayom that “the army is preparing for the possibility of fighting for several days, during which Israel may be subjected to rocket fire.”

The official noted that nearly a year has passed since the ceasefire in Lebanon, yet Israeli military operations have continued. Recent Israeli airstrikes have targeted infrastructure belonging to both Hezbollah and Hamas throughout Lebanon, as the groups attempt to rebuild their capabilities.

Another unnamed Israeli official stated, “The Israeli army has no other choice,” claiming the Lebanese army is not doing enough to disarm Hezbollah. This statement underscores Israel’s long-held desire to neutralize the powerful militant group.

According to reports, the Israeli military is currently operating in Lebanon with “almost complete freedom” to prevent Hezbollah from rearming. However, a third anonymous Israeli official cautioned that Hezbollah is rebuilding its forces at a faster rate than Israel can dismantle them.

“The army is preparing for a focused operation lasting several days of fighting to strike Hezbollah’s infrastructure and strategic assets,” Yisrael Hayom reported. “Hezbollah is likely to respond by launching rockets and drones at Israel.”

On Wednesday evening, the Israeli military conducted a series of airstrikes on the Lebanese towns of Einata, Tire Falsiye, Deir Kifa, and Shhour, following warnings to residents to evacuate. The strikes represent a significant escalation in recent hostilities.
