Paparazzi publicly honored his late friend and colleague, Robert Jensen, in recent media appearances, but has chosen to keep details surrounding his wife’s health private. Van den Brink was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is currently undergoing extensive testing and chemotherapy.

Metastasis

Van den Brink is documenting her experience through a blog, providing insight into her journey. “The pathologist assessed my tumor as grade 3. Grading ranges from 1 to 3. Grade 3 means the cells grow quickly and divide faster, the more aggressive type,” her surgeon explained, according to her writing.

Cancer was also found in her underarm, and chemotherapy is aimed at reducing its size. “Sometimes fewer glands need to be removed from the armpit and the tumor in the breast becomes smaller, which may also allow for breast-conserving surgery. The main reason is something you can’t see: preventing the spread of cancer to other places.”

Party magazine reached out to Paparazzi, who previously contributed as a freelancer for the publication, for an update. When contacted, the typically open presenter indicated he is declining media requests and interviews at this time, citing the sensitive nature of the situation.

“The situation is just too vulnerable to say anything meaningful about right now,” Paparazzi stated. “We’ve been in and out of the hospital a lot in recent weeks and months. Nothing is really clear yet.”

Staying Positive

Paparazzi expressed his support for his wife’s decision to share her story through blogging. “The fact that Sandy is writing her blogs is therapeutic and also prevents a lot of questions. We remain incredibly positive, we hope for the best, and we face the entire treatment process with confidence.”

He concluded: “I hope everyone understands that we want to do this together in peace, and I want to emphasize that I am not giving interviews.”
