Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Reunite at ‘Kiss of the Spider Woman’ Premiere
Despite their recent divorce, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck publicly supported each other yesterday at the New York City premiere of Lopez’s new musical film, Kiss of the Spider Woman, signaling a continued professional relationship.
Lopez, 56, stars as Ingrid Luna in the reimagining of the classic story, and Affleck, 53, served as an executive producer through his production company, Artists Equity, alongside Matt Damon. The former couple posed for photos together on the red carpet and were seen in conversation, with Affleck also speaking to the press about the film. Lopez wore a sculptural gown from Harris Reed’s spring 2026 collection for the occasion.
During a pre-screening introduction, Lopez publicly thanked Affleck, stating, “Thank you so much… this movie wouldn’t have been made without Ben and without Artists Equity.” She also shared her excitement about the project, saying, “I read the script… I was just floored. I get to sing, I get to dance, I get to act. I get to be an old-time Hollywood movie star.” Lopez recently discussed the film as a healing experience, noting its themes of escapism resonated during a difficult personal time. The film is based on the 1976 novel by Argentine writer Manuel Puig.
The premiere follows Lopez’s candid discussion of filming the musical amid her heartbreak on CBS News Sunday Morning, and her comments on the TODAY show that “Things happen, you have to keep going.” Kiss of the Spider Woman, which premiered at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival, will be released in theaters on October 10. The film’s production was a significant undertaking, representing a return to musical filmmaking for director Bill Condon, known for his work on Chicago.
Affleck and Lopez settled their divorce in February 2025 after a brief rekindling of their relationship that began in 2021.
