Jeremy Renner Denies Harassment Allegations Made by Filmmaker Yi Zhou
Actor Jeremy Renner has denied allegations of harassment made by filmmaker Yi Zhou, who claims he sent her unsolicited explicit images and exhibited disturbing behavior.
A representative for Renner told news outlets that the allegations are “totally inaccurate and untrue.” Zhou, 37, publicly accused Renner on Monday via Instagram, alleging he began contacting her in June with “a string of unwanted/unsolicited pornographic images of himself via DM and Whatsapp” and subsequently “seduced” her. She also claims to have been targeted by a smear campaign. According to Zhou, an incident occurred on August 20th while discussing a documentary project, where she felt compelled to lock herself in a room due to Renner’s behavior after he reportedly consumed a bottle of wine.
The pair had been collaborating on several projects, including Zhou’s documentary “Chronicles of Disney,” which features Renner as an interviewee, and the AI-animated film “Stardust Future: Stars and Scars,” where Renner provides voice work. The allegations come as the entertainment industry faces increased scrutiny regarding workplace conduct and power dynamics. Renner’s Rennervation Foundation, a charity focused on community support, is slated to receive a portion of the revenue from “Stardust Future.” More information about domestic violence resources can be found at the National Domestic Violence Hotline.
Renner’s lawyer has not yet issued a statement. Authorities have not confirmed whether an investigation has been launched as of today, November 8, 2025.
