Juno Awards 2026: Bieber & McRae Lead Nominations – The Weeknd, Ari Cui Cui Also Nominated

TORONTO – Nominations for the 55th annual Juno Awards were unveiled today, recognizing the best in Canadian music across a wide range of genres [[2]]. Justin Bieber and Tate McRae led the pack with six nominations apiece, setting the stage for a competitive awards season [[1]]. The awards gala will take place March 28, with a live broadcast hosted by Mae Martin on March 29.

Both pop stars are vying for the coveted Artist of the Year and Album of the Year awards: Bieber for Swag II and McRae for So Close to What. The Juno Awards represent a significant moment for Canadian musicians, recognizing excellence across a variety of genres.

They will also go head-to-head in the Single of the Year category, with Bieber’s “Daisies” competing against McRae’s nostalgic track, “Sports Car.”

The Weeknd is also in the running with five nominations, including Album of the Year for Hurry Up Tomorrow and Single of the Year for “Cry For Me.”

Rising star Cameron Whitcomb has also earned five nominations, including Breakthrough Artist of the Year, Single of the Year for “Options,” Album of the Year, and Country Album of the Year for his debut album, The Hard Way.

The newly introduced “Best Latin Recording of the Year” category sees nominations for Alex Cuba, Lido Pimienta, Andy Rubal, Isabella Lovestory, and Mario Puglia.

In the Francophone Album of the Year category, Lou-Adriane Cassidy, who swept the ADISQ awards for Journal d’un Loup-Garou, is a strong contender. She’ll be competing against close friend Ariane Roy, who released Dogue this year. Other nominees include up-and-coming rapper Fredz, former Cowboy Fringant member JF Pauzé, and veteran singer Pierre Lapointe.

With the exception of this category, representation from Quebec artists is relatively limited. Montreal’s Patrick Watson is nominated for Adult Alternative Album of the Year for Uh Oh, and Arcade Fire is up for Group of the Year.

Montreal artist Yves Jarvis, the 2025 Polaris Prize winner, is also nominated in the Alternative Album of the Year category for All Cylinders.

Young Quebec artist Ari Cui Cui is nominated for her children’s album, Ari Cui Cui et les jeux d’rôles (Les contes classiques en musique).

The Juno Awards will be presented during a gala on Saturday, March 28, and a live broadcast hosted by comedian Mae Martin on Sunday, March 29.
