Shortly after, Paweł Wąsek took to the ramp, delivering a solid jump of 130 meters. Johann Andre Forfang followed, reaching 133 meters, which propelled the Norwegian into the lead.

Valentin Foubert proved to be one of the biggest surprises of the trial series, jumping 131 meters from a lower starting point, placing him close behind Forfang. Gregor Deschwanden also performed well, with a jump of 130.5 meters giving him the lead.

Shorter Jump for Kacper Tomasiak

Kacper Tomasiak had one of his shorter jumps on the Italian hill, landing at 125.5 meters. This placed the Polish standout in 10th position after the trial.

Gregor Deschwanden emerged as the winner, ahead of Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal and Johann Andre Forfang. Kacper Tomasiak finished 11th, while Paweł Wąsek secured 12th place.

Adam Bucholz noted on X that Norway won the trial series with a score of 169.8 points. Italy came in second (162.0), followed by Austria (158.6). Poland achieved the fourth-highest score with 158.1 points. Domen Prevc of Slovenia and both Japanese jumpers withdrew from the trial series.

The competition is scheduled to commence at 7:00 PM local time.

Saturday’s Performances

If Saturday’s individual competition results determined the medal standings, Poland would be in fourth place, just shy of the podium. Japan’s Ren Nikaido and Ryoyu Kobayashi would have taken the top spots. Austria’s Jan Hoerl and Stephan Embacher would have secured second place, while Norway’s Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal and Johann Andre Forfang would have earned the bronze. Germany and Slovenia, featuring Olympic large hill champion Domen Prevc, also remain in contention for a medal.

Team ski jumping competitions have been held since 2023, with the inaugural event taking place during the World Cup in Lake Placid, USA. The Polish team of Dawid Kubacki and Piotr Żyła claimed the historic victory. The competition consists of three rounds, with the top 12 teams participating in the second round and the top eight advancing to the third.
