Man Claims ‘Lama’ Presented Him as Son

Mother reportedly paid 150,000 euros for education in Mexico 13 years ago.

A man living in a small town in the Sofia Province has arrive forward with allegations regarding Ivalyo Kalushev, known as “lama,” claiming he was part of Kalushev’s group and lived with him and others in Mexico as a 15-year-old. According to the man’s testimony, his mother paid 150,000 euros around 2013 for his training in scuba diving, spiritual development, and speleology.

The man, whose identity is being protected, stated he had a sexual relationship with Kalushev and revealed other intimate connections between men who expressed no interest in women and believed they were self-sufficient. He said he was not forced into any relationship and, at that age, perceived these interactions as normal and part of the group’s lifestyle, as well as his own personal growth under Kalushev’s mentorship.

Kalushev’s former partner explained that he left Mexico after the dynamic shifted and Kalushev began to focus more attention on another underage Bulgarian boy who was also “in training.”

That boy was identified as Nikolay Zlatkov, then 11 or 12 years old, born in 2003, and later found dead in Kalushev’s camper van in the Vrachan Balkan mountains. The witness claims Nikolay’s parents divorced when he was four years old.

Following the divorce, Nikolay remained with his mother, who reportedly fell into depression and became deeply religious, embracing Buddhism. She subsequently met Kalushev and entrusted her son to his care. Nikolay’s father attempted to remove him from Kalushev’s influence, but was unsuccessful, as the boy had become strongly attached to Kalushev, who allegedly began presenting him as his son.

The allegations come as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Zlatkov’s death, and highlight concerns about the potential for exploitation within groups offering alternative lifestyles or spiritual guidance.
