Former U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris has reactivated her campaign social media accounts, fueling speculation about a potential run for the White House in 2028. The move comes as Harris promotes her new book and remains a prominent figure within the Democratic Party.
On Thursday, Harris announced the revival of her online presence with a video posted to X, formerly known as Twitter, where her account name was changed from “Kamala HQ” to “HQ_67,” a reference to the numbers 6 and 7 popular among Generation Z. She stated, “I’m really excited about this.” Her TikTok account is simply named “HQ.”
The accounts had been inactive since November 5, 2024, the day Donald Trump was declared the winner of the presidential election.
Harris indicated the renewed social media focus will be geared toward engaging young Americans and highlighting “some of our great, courageous leaders,” including elected officials and community figures. “Stay tuned, and we’ll see you there,” she added.
The reactivation of Harris’s accounts has already drawn a swift response from the Trump campaign. White House spokesperson Abigail Jackson mocked the move on X, writing, “Really, what Democrats need is more of Kamala.” The “Trump War Room” account similarly questioned the decision, posting, “You guys want more pain?”
Harris, 61, has been traveling across the United States to promote her book, “107 Days,” which details her brief 2024 presidential campaign following Joe Biden’s withdrawal on July 21. The book is also reported to include a critical assessment of her former boss and his administration.
She recently announced that her book tour will continue through 2026, a move widely interpreted as a prelude to another potential presidential bid. Several polls already show Harris as a leading contender for the Democratic nomination in 2028, ahead of California Governor Gavin Newsom and other potential candidates. The development underscores the ongoing search for a successor to Biden and the early positioning for the next presidential election cycle.
