Kimhwa Agricultural Cooperative in Cheolwon, Gangwon Province, demonstrated its commitment to community support on February 12, 2026, with a donation of 220 kilograms of rice to the Cheolwon branch of the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Disabled Welfare Center.

The donated rice is “Geumhwahyangmi,” a branded variety cultivated by members of the Kimhwa Agricultural Cooperative. Geumhwahyangmi is produced from the “Golden Queen” strain, known for its distinctive, fragrant and nutty aroma. The cooperative is actively working to establish Geumhwahyangmi as a leading regional rice brand through quality enhancements and promotional efforts.

Lee Hyung-kyu, head of the Cheolwon branch of the welfare center, stated the rice will be distributed to economically disadvantaged individuals and vulnerable families.

“We hope this contribution, made in the spirit of the Lunar Latest Year, will provide some assistance to those in need within our community,” said Jang Chun-jib, head of the Kimhwa Agricultural Cooperative. “We will continue to engage in social contribution activities to support our neighbors.”
