Kurniawan Dwi Yulianto has been appointed as the new head coach of the Indonesia U-17 national team. The appointment comes as the team prepares for the upcoming 2026 AFF U-17 Championship and the 2026 AFC U-17 Asian Cup.
Nova Arianto is currently leading the U-17 squad through a pair of friendly matches against China on February 8th and 11th, 2026. Arianto was named interim coach after being promoted to lead the Indonesia U-20 team.
Following these matches, Kurniawan will assume full control of the U-17 team and is already assisting with the current coaching staff.

“We have been listening to Coach Nova and his suggestions,” said Arya Sinulingga, a member of the PSSI Executive Committee, to reporters. “Those suggestions will also be submitted to the PSSI Exco.”
“We’ll just wait for the Exco’s decision. I’ve noticed that Kurniawan has already joined the Indonesia U-17 coaching team,” he added.
Kurniawan is no stranger to coaching, having previously managed the Malaysian club Sabah. He also spent time with the youth setup at Como in Italy.
After leaving Como, Kurniawan returned to Indonesia and has managed several teams, including PSPS Riau.
“In terms of experience, I think Kurniawan is also excellent. He has experience with Como 1907 and other teams,” Arya stated.
